Port Credit Power and Sail Squadron (PCPS) has been serving the boating community of Mississauga and area for over fifty years. The Squadron received it's charter/warrant on May 7th, 1950 and officially formed the Port Credit Squadron on May 20th, 1950 with nine charter members consenting to serve. The founding members were W.A. Athawes, G.E. Farrow, R.P. Jackson, D.M. Jamieson, T.A. Johnson, J.D. Ketchum, K. Link, J.A. Murton, A.R. Nevllie and H. Sproule. These nine people were the beginning of a long list members who have freely served the boating fraternity. PCPS is a local branch of the Canadian Power Squadron, a nation-wide, non-profit, volunteer organization promoting safety on the water and good fellowship amongst boating enthusiasts.

We are dedicated to providing course in all aspects of recreational boating, both power and sail. Our success is witnessed by the continued growth of our squadron to over five hundred members. Educational interests are no longer just boat handling and coastal navigation. The modern vessel is complex and the waterways are crowded. With membership comes a diversity of benefits, but education remains our primary focus. You can now choose educational courses covering weather, celestial navigation, marine maintenance, offshore cruising and marine electronics. Not bad for such humble beginning!!

If you have any memorabilia about the squadron or information on former members/officers,
please contact the  Lighthouse Editor.
